A Cubic Centimeter of Chance
"One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a
very long time.“
~ Andre Gide
Greetings! As some of you know, I’ve been threatening to publish a newsletter for
awhile now, and the threat has become reality. The purpose is to pass along some
thoughts that may be helpful to you, my coaching clients, as well as to let you know
what the coaching calendar for the upcoming month will bring.
The title I’ve chosen for this communiqué is a bit of an oxymoron. One of the things I
most want for my clients is to be able to continually build upon your Personal
Foundation in order to maximally leverage your experience, strengths and skills. But
the corollary to that often involves breaking through Blocks - so maybe this should be
called UNBUILDING BLOCKS, instead. Sorry - just my Gemini personality coming
through again. We’ll stick with the title with the positive bent. Anyway, please let me
know how you like this - whether it’s helpful, and the kinds of things you’d like to see.
WOMENFEST ’98 SEMINAR

men, this all-day event offers you the opportunity to take three seminars, lunch and
networking for $25! Seminar topics range from Financial Planning to Native American
weaving. I will be doing a coaching seminar with Mimi Frenette, focusing on handling
change and building a strong Personal Foundation. For more information, call the

POLICY REMINDERS
Thanks to all of you for honoring my policies regarding 24-hour
notice on rescheduling of appointments and payment by the first of the month. I
appreciate your assistance toward my goal of an effortless practice, which allows me to
focus on coaching, not administration.
“All of us, whether or not we are warriors, have a cubic centimeter of
chance that pops out
in front of our eyes from time to time. The difference between an average man and a warrior
is that the warrior is aware of this, and one of his tasks is to be alert, deliberately waiting,
so that when his cubic centimeter pops out he has the necessary speed, the prowess, to pick
it up.”
~ Carlos Casteneda
What’s that all about? I loved that quote when I read it in Joseph Jaworski’s book,
Synchronicity. Do we only get one shot at a particular window of opportunity? Maybe
so. Part of the excitement, the richness, of life is in paying attention to what’s open to
you right at this moment. If you’re looking back (past) or engulfed in planning (future),
you may miss the cubic centimeter of chance to pounce on what’s wonderful in your
present. When that occurs, the window closes and moves to the past. Let it go! If it
comes back, it comes back. But focusing on how you missed it blocks you to new
windows that are opening right now.
So, how do you know when you’re at that cubic centimeter of chance? Be aware of the
possibilities all around you. And when you think a window might be opening, climb
through - see what happens. How else will you know?
There are other ways to say it - Be Here Now (a personal favorite), Carpe Diem. It
doesn’t matter how you say it - it matters how you live it.
What opportunities are in front of you right now?
